Each team includes six official players. Maximum official roster size is eight. Only six players may be on the court at one time; teams with seven or eight attending rotate their own players.
Temporary substitutes
During regular-season play, a temporary substitute may replace an absent registered player at no extra fee. Subs should be reasonably similar in skill and are not official roster members unless the $75 fee is paid.
FINAL WEEK RULE
OFFICIAL ROSTER PLAYERS ONLY.
Outside substitutes are not allowed during the final week. Any of the team’s six to eight official registered roster players may participate.

Do I need volleyball experience?+
No. Beginner, intermediate, and advanced players are welcome.
Can I register without a team?+
Yes. Register as an individual, choose your skill level, and we’ll place you based on league needs and experience.
Can I bring a full team?+
Yes. Team registration includes six official players, with the option to add a seventh or eighth official player for $75 each.
How long do I play each Tuesday?+
Individual players receive approximately one hour of court time. Team schedules are organized within the league’s 6:00–9:00 PM window.
What format do we play?+
Primarily indoor co-ed 6v6. Only six players may be on the court for a team at one time.
Can teams use substitutes?+
Temporary substitutes may replace an absent registered player during regular-season play. Final-week players must be on the official roster.
What should I bring?+
Athletic clothes, court shoes, water, and good energy.
Is there an age requirement?+
Yes. Chicago Volleyball Tuesdays is for adults age 18 and older.
